Rachel McMahon is entering her junior year as a Communications major at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. In 2017, Rachel was a 17-year-old High School student who started creating quizzes as a community contributor on Buzzfeed’s website. From the middle of 2017 until the beginning of 2019, Rachel created almost 700 quizzes which brought in hundreds of thousands of views. Her highest view count on a single quiz was over 800,000 views. In 2018 alone, she was the second largest traffic driver worldwide to the Buzzfeed site. Rachel’s quizzes would get promoted and do so well on Buzzfeed that the former Buzzfeed Director of Quizzes and the other Buzzfeed employees would study her quizzes to learn how to best make their own. One of her quizzes: “Which Jonas Brother Are You?”, was taken by Nick Jonas on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Since the end of January 2019 and after lots of success with Buzzfeed without any compensation, Rachel has moved on from creating content for Buzzfeed and now freelances quizzes for two different websites and additionally contributes social ideas for Netflix US’s Instagram and Twitter. This summer she is working at USA Today in McClean, Virginia as a summer intern in the Emerging Platforms Department. Rachel also released a quiz book with Simon & Schuster in the US and the UK titled, “What Kind of Quiz Book Are You?” on July 2nd, 2019.
