Sophia Latessa

Data Scientist, Stanford University

Sophia Latessa, 19 years-old, is a technology entrepreneur, data scientist, and Symbolic Systems major at Stanford University. Prior to attending Stanford, Sophia was a researcher at the MIT Center for Brains, Minds & Machines where she programmed artificial intelligence software and machine learning algorithms to detect online fake news. Her work in the MIT lab resulted in a co-published paper, which received the top award at the prestigious NeurIPS 2018. In addition, she worked for the Italian football club, A.S. Roma on the digital marketing team. Sophia specializes in Generation Z user and consumer behavior and trends.

Her new interests have driven her towards the food innovation sector. Most recently, Sophia released a research paper “How Generation Z is Changing the American Snack and Driving the Future of the Food Industry,” which was nominated for the Booth Prize Essay at Stanford University.
